SSCS Chapel - No Room for Jesus

khicks.jpgToday in chapel, we were honored to have Mr. Kevin Hicks with us.  Having been involved in Christian education for many years, Mr. Hicks even had the “privilege” of having our principal, Pastor Thompson, as a student for several years.

The chapel message touched on on making room in your heart for Jesus.  Especially at Christmas, we often crowd many things into our lives, and shut the door on He whose birthday this really is.

A Few Holiday Reminders and Announcements

  •   We are please to have Mr. Kevin Hicks in chapel with us tomorrow (Thursday, December 21).  Mr. Hicks has been involved in Christian education for over 20 years.  Currently he serves as the Dean of the New England Baptist Theological Institute in West Bridgewater.  Chapel will begin at 10:30am in the auditorium.  All parents are welcome to attend.
  •   This year we will be conducting our Christmas parties on Friday, December 22.  You should have already received a notice telling you which food items your child is responsible for bringing that day.  If you have not received this letter, please contact your child’s teacher immediately.
  •   Each child will need to bring in a wrapped gift on or before Friday.  They only need to bring in one gift and it needs to be for a girl if your child is a girl and for a boy if your child is a boy.  Please do not write a name on the gift as they will not know who will be receiving their gift.  We ask that you keep the limit to $5.00.  Also, please keep in mind that if your child does not bring in a gift then he/she will not receive a gift on this day.
  •  Friday is a half day of school.  All students will be dismissed at 12:30pm.  Aftercare is available till 6:00pm.
  •   December 25 – January 1, there will be NO SCHOOL due to Christmas vacation.  School will re-open Tuesday January 2.
  •   There will be no Kidz Club on December 27.

Fourth and Fifth Grade Attend Celtics Game

 sscsceltics.jpg

Mr. Thompson’s class had the opportunity last week to head out to the TD North Bank Boston Garden to watch the Boston Celtics defeat the Denver Nuggets.  Seven students came out and had a wonderful time, along with several of our staff members.

Christmas Program

program.jpg

Last Thursday, our students did an excellent job presenting “A Christmas Alphabet.”  Reciting letters from A through Z, SSCS students explained the true meaning of Christmas and celibrated our Lord’s Birth.

After the program, Pastor Laitres spoke breifly about the ABC’s of Salvation.  We must Accept the fact that man is a sinner.  We must Believe that Jesus Christ has died for our sins, and we must Accept Christ and His plan of salvation.  You can listen to the message right here!

SSCS Chapel - Simeon Missed Out

Last week Chapel was held up in the auditorium as the students practiced for the Christmas program.  Pastor Thompson preached a short Message from Luke 2 about Simeon.  Simeon waited all his life to see the Messiah, and he desire was granted as he held the baby Jesus in his arms.  At this point Simeon pronounces that he could finally die, for his eyes had seen the Christ.  Yet, if he had died at that moment, think of all the things he had missed out on.  He would never have seen Jesus perform a miracle.  He never would have heard Jesus tell a single parable.  He never would have seen Christ die for sins of the world.  There would have been alot he had missed.  We too are guilty of that at times.  At Christmas we focus on a babe in a manger, but if that is all Christ is to us, we have missed out on many things.

A Thank You Note from FirstBible International

We wanted to thank you, the students and staff of South Shore Christian School for taking the time to fill up quarter folders for FirstBible international.  Your generous financial gift of $512.00 will be used towards printing Scriptures to reach the unreached in the 10/40 Window.  Once the Scriptures have been translated and printed into a people group’s heart language, it costs approximately $5.00 per whole Bible, not including the shipping.  Your gift will be use to help those who have never had a copy of the Word of God in their own heart language.

Please keep us and FBI [FirstBible International] in your prayers.

God bless you,

Charles F. Keen
Minister of Munitions
