Last Wednesday marked our special Thanksgiving chapel. Each class came up and sang a song which spoke of our need to be thankful for the things God has blessed us with. After this program, Pastor Laitres spoke to us from Luke 17 concerning the 10 lepers who were healed and the one who came back to thank Christ for what He had done. They all needed help, they all were healed, yet only one was thankful and only one was cleansed spiritually.

South Shore Christian School would like to wish you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving. We have so many of God’s blessings to be thankful for, including the opportunity you have given us to help educate your children. We thank you for the privilege and honor.
We again would like to extend to you our invitation to our special Thanksgiving Chapel tomorrow, November 22, at 10:30am. The children have been working hard on their songs and we know you will greatly enjoy it!

This week saw a special, additional Thursday chapel. Pastor Thompson spoke form Galatians 3:24-25. The Old Testament law was used as a teacher, to show us how sinful and helpless we are. This helplessnes led us to embrace the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and trust in His finished work on Calvary for our salvation. Once we are saved, the law has served its purpose. Using this as his basis, Pastor Thompson explained that our discipline system here at SSCS has a similar purpose. Once a demerit has been given, that shows us there is a problem, and that we need help to solve it. If we can learn from our mistake, the demerit has worked. If we do not, we will continue to receive the same demerits over and over again till the lesson has been learned.

Mr. Jacobs spoke in our special awards chapel today. With the thought of awards on his mind, Mr. Jacobs spoke on 5 Crowns of Eternal Reward - The crown of life (to those who love God), the crown of incorruption (to those living a disciplined life), the crown of rejoicing (to those who point others to Jesus), the crown of righteousness (to those who give everything to the Lord) and the crown of glory.

Dear K-4 Parents,
Wow, it is hard to believe that we are through one quarter of school already. Your children are doing very well. We will be sending out report cards soon in the mail. I hope if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s report card you will e-mail or call the school office to set up an appointment.
The children have been working hard. We have learned all of the vowels and are starting on the consonants. Ask your child what a blend is because that is something else we are working very hard to learn. We have also been practicing a special song for our “Thanksgiving” chapel which will be next Wednesday, November 22nd. If you are able to come out we would love to have you hear to take a part. Chapel will start at 10:30 AM.
Also, on Wednesday, November 22nd I would like to have a special day for the children. I will be calling it “Thank God for Our Friends”. The children will be able to bring a stuffed animal friend to school with them to enjoy some games and food with their school friends. I will be sending out a more detailed note about this very soon.
I hope and pray each one of you have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving. I want to thank all of you for the privilege you have given me to teach your children. I am enjoying them immensely.
Your Child’s Teacher,
Miss Laughman

Today we had the folks from Life Touch Studios come in for our picture day. It was delightful to see all the bright and smiling faces and the shouts of “Cheese!” echoing through the auditorium. For those who ordered packets, they should arrive within 2-3 weeks. For those who were not able to order pictures today, who were absent or who are unhappy with the pictures taken today - there will be another opportunity next month during retakes.
