Western Round -em Up Spirit Day

Excitement was in the air here at SSCS today!  We were invaded by over 80 cowboys and cowgirls!

But don’t worry, we had a crew who were ready to corrale these partners into shape!

We did have two winners in our best costume contest.  Each winner received a Patch the Pirate CD.  Here they are posing with Pastor Thompson.

The highlight of the day was our chapel service with Evangelist Wil Rice from the Bill Rice Ranch.  Brother Wil spoke on Faith As A Child.  According to Christ, in order to get to heaven, one must have faith like a child.  What does that mean?  First, it means that you  can’t get there on your  own.  Second, it means knowing that you can’t get there on your own.  Finally it means that you must trust Jesus as the payment for your sins.  You can download the message below.dsc03169.JPG

Special Chapel Service

This Wednesday
10:00am - 11:00am

wilriceoutside.jpgIt is our great pleasure and honor to welcome Evangelist Wil Rice to our special chapel service this Wednesday.  Brother Wil is the President of the Bill Rice Ranch in Murfreesboro, TN.  The Rice family has had an invaluable influence on modern evangelism and has given us a rich heritage of Godly men.  Evangelist Wil Rice is the son of Dr. Bill Rice III and the nephew of Dr. John R. Rice, the founder of the Sword of the Lord.  We would invite all parents who are able to attend to come out for this event.  There will be special music from our students along with a multimedia presentation about the colorlogo.gifministry of the Bill Rice Ranch.

Along with this special chapel service, this Wednesday we will have our first spirit day of the year!  Our theme for this day will be all things western.  So feel free to dress your children as cowboys, cowgirls or ranch hands.  There will be an award for best outfit.  Please remember, basic school dress codes are to be kept.  Boys may NOT wear shorts and girls may NOT wear pants.  All shirts must have sleeves.  Jeans (boys), jean skirts (girls)  and sneakers may be worn.  We have a fun day planned and we hope everyone will participate.

Are You Passing the Tests of Life? - SSCS Chapel

 chapel092006.jpg

Yesterday in chapel, Mr. Jacobs described three tests that God had given Abraham in Genesis chapter twenty-two.  They were the tests of obedience, faith and fear.  You can download the message in mp3 format here.

Not Just for Kids Anymore!

We were all very excited to see well over 30 kids come out to Kidz club last Wednesday night.  While Kidz club is open to any child who is in first through sixth grade, we feel especially blessed to see our own SSCS students come out.   In case you forgot, Kidz club is held every Wednesday right here at North Baptist Church from 7:00pm through 8:15pm with a snack provided.

We would also like to let you know about another very special event that goes right along with Kidz club.  During this same time period (7:00pm – 8:15pm) we have a Bible study for adults and teens.  Pastor Laitres leads this study and is right now going through a series explaining the ins and outs of the local church.  What does it mean to “go to church?”  What does church membership mean?  Why should I even bother going to church in the first place?  Come out each Wednesday night to here the answers to these questions and many more!  We also end each Bible study with a prayer time.  Please come out and share with us any prayer requests that you may have.  We would love the opportunity to pray with you and help you in any way we can!

So, remember, Wednesday night is not just for kids anymore!  Bring your children for the Kidz club and stay for the Bible Study!  We would love to see you there!

God’s Amazing Creation - SSCS Chapel

 chapel091306.jpg

This week’s chapel service featured Pastor Peter Laitres.  Pastor’s Laitres spoke with a powerpoint presentation concerning God’s Amazing Creation from Genesis 1:24-28.  Though God created such fascinating animals as the Bombardier Beatle and the Chuckwalla Lizzard, Pastor reminded us that God’s greatest creation was mankind, made in the image of God Himself.
