It’s wonderful to see school beginning once again! We’re off to a great start so far and are looking forward to see what God will do this school year.
Important Reminders:
- Tonight, August 30, 2006, is South Shore Christian School Night during our opening revival services. We are pleased to have with us Missionary Evangelist Lin Croxton. Each year Brother Croxton travels around the world including such places as Moldova, Brazil and Haiti. The class with the most in attendance (percentage-wise) will receive a free ice cream treat next week in school! The service begins at 7:00pm.
- Please be sure to fill out and return the updated contact information sheet. This will help us keep in better contact with you.
- Remember that classes begin promptly at 8:00am. Please make it a point to be on time. Those who are late need to report to the office and obtain a late slip. After a student is late five times in one semester, a demerit will be issued with each tardy for the rest of that semester.
- If your child is absent for any reason, he must bring a note signed by a parent with him upon returning to class.
Let’s work together to make this the best school year ever!
Sincerely,
Pastor Kevin Thompson,
Principal

Twas the night before opening, and all through the church… Well, it wasn’t exactly quiet
around here! Our teachers spent much of the day preparing for grades 1 through 6 coming in the next day. What better way to prepare than to prepare our hearts through the sound preaching of God’s Word. Tonight Brother Croxton delivered another powerful message, this time covering the subject of laying our foundation on nothing other than Jesus Christ. Yet, once the foundation is established, we need to be building upon it those things which will last. Here is the sermon:

Monday night was the second service during our opening Revival. Evangelist Lin Croxton delivered a power message about the works of the Holy Spirit. Many were convicted as he spoke on the Spirit’s power in saving souls, and the Spirit’s desire for us to go and tell others of this power.

Monday Evening Service
John 16:7-14

We were especially privileged to have Pastor Bob and Janet Henderson down from Maine. Pastor Henderson runs Open Bible Ministries, a ministry to help and encourage local churches and pastors. He will be back with us again in April speaking at next year’s Bible Conference.
If you have not done so already, why not stop by Brother Croxton’s book table? On the book table you will find many helpful books and materials, along with some great Christian music.

On Sunday we began our 2006 South Shore Christian School Opening Revival. We are pleased to have Evangelist Lin Croxton with us. Brother Croxton specializes in missionary evangelism, traveling across the world.
All the sermons from Sunday, and throughout the revival services, are available on CD or cassette. There is no cost for these items. These messages are also available for download through the North Baptist Pulpit Podcast. Click on each message title to download the mp3.

Sunday was also our Christian Education Day as we held a teacher dedication service that evening. Pastor Laitres introduced all of our staff here at SSCS, and Pastor Thompson gave a prayer not only for our teachers, but for our students as well. We are praying God will use our school in a great way this year.

August 29, 2006
Last night we had our Parent/Teacher Orientation, we would like to thank all of you who came out. It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know some of you and answer some of your questions.
We began with a few words from Pastor Peter Laitres, the Pastor here at North Baptist Church. Pastor Laitres is entering his fourth year of ministry at NBC and has been an integral part of SSCS the entire time. His leadership and passion for Christian education drives us to be a better school.
Our principal, Pastor Kevin Thompson, then made a few remarks concerning our desire to
open the lines of communication between teachers and parents. He then introduced several new opportunities we now are able to provide you with.
- Art and music classes are offered for every grade
- Each teacher has been given their own school e-mail account
- Each grade will begin to further integrate computer technology into their education
Pastor Thompson also gave a few reminders:
- Make sure when you come into the school, come in through the Snell Street entrance and leave through the Main Street exist. Remember to be careful of children in the parking lot and be mindful of other drivers wanted to drop their children off
- We will begin each school day at 8:00am sharp. Please be on time.
- If your child is late, please bring them to the office for a late slip.
- Microwaveable lunches are permissible, but should only be warm-ups requiring no more than 1-2 minutes
- Please remember to fill out an updated contact information form, so that we have your correct and current information
At this point, the parents were dismissed to their children’s classrooms. There they could talk personally with each teacher and discuss anything on their minds.

Remember, school starts next Wednesday for grades 1-6!
August 25, 2006
School starts next week for grades 1-6, and we are getting ready!
Mrs. Sommer speaks with Mr. Kevin Hicks after a Teacher Orientation lecture. Brother Hicks is the Dean of the New England Baptist Theological Institute and has over 17 years of teaching experience. He gave two lectures on subjects he has learned in his years of educational work.
Mrs. Laitres is helping get the first grade room in order. This year Mrs. Laitres will be
teaching both Art and Music classes. We are excited to offer these two new classes for each grade this year. Previously Mrs. Laitres taught the combined first and second grade class. Now she can devote her time to two subjects fpr which she has a great passion.
Speaking of excitement, Mrs. Carole West is excited about teaching once again at South Shore Christian School. Mrs. West will be putting her new teaching degree to work as she teaches the first grade. This year the first grade will be a class all their own!
Tim Reid graduated from South Shore just last summer, but still decided to stick
around and help us out as we get ready. We will miss Tim’s hard work and effort around here, but we will pray for a great year as he heads off to Northland Baptist Bible College next Wednesday morning.
It is always a joy to see Mrs. Reid around the building. Here she is setting up her class computer. This year each class will have a computer fully loaded with educational software that will be helpful to each student. Mrs. Reid will be teaching second and third grade this year.
Don’t forget about Parent/Teacher Orientation Night tomorrow, August 24!
Hope to see you all there!
August 23, 2006
Many of our SSCS students have enjoyed coming out each Friday night for Kidz Club. Starting this wednesday, Kidz club will be moved to Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. All children from grades one through six are welcomed to join us.
August 20, 2006

Today was the last day of our summer program. It was sad to see everyone go that last time, but refreshing to remember they’ll be back in a few weeks! Preparation for next year continues on Monday when we welcome back our teachers for Teacher Orientation.
August 18, 2006
This is just a reminder that tomorrow August 19 is the LAST DAY for this year’s Summer Program. We truly have enjoyed getting to know all the new faces and also seeing returning students as well. We hope that each child had a good time this summer.
Please keep in mind that ALL STUDENTS will be taking ALL their things home with them. If you could send in an extra bag with them in the morning that would help out greatly.
Also, please make sure that ALL SUMMER PROGRAM CHARGES have been paid in full before your child leaves. It is very important that we close out ALL these accounts as soon as possible as school will be starting soon.
We want to again thank all the parents who allowed us to minister to your children this summer - we look forward to seeing you Thursday evening, August 24 for our Parent/Teacher Night beginning at 7:00pm.
